On Remembrance Day 2018, our featured window display will be a powerful collection of paintings by David De Souza. David was badly injured in combat, and has used art as his rehabilitation. David will be coming into the People’s Gallery next year to talk about his experiences, and we will be featuring one of his works as our main page image in November. Here is a sneak preview of his work…
A reminder that we have members of The People’s Gallery that are currently exhibiting paintings as part of The Oldham Open 2017. Prints are available of all these paintings, please inquire by email or give us a call.
Members Cliff Murphy, Tara Bush, Gordon Clegg, Robert Lees and Kevin Haynes all had work accepted into the Open – here are some of their paintings:
This month, we are extremely honored to have a very special window display by the late John Trevor Trueman. (More commonly known as Trevor).
The collection of original oil paintings that will be for sale are priced well below their normal value at the insistence of Trevor’s family, who have told us they want local people to have the opportunity to own one of his paintings.
Trevor was a professional artist, who graduated from the Regional College of Art & Design Manchester in 1955. He passed away in 2016.
Our new window display for September is by the talented watercolour artist Sandra Crake.
Come and see for yourself Sandra’s beautiful ‘wet on wet’ watercolours in all their glory. The paintings on display are all reasonably priced, so it’s never been more easy to get yourself an original piece of artwork.
Why not enter a piece of artwork into The Mottram Show’s art competition? It will be judged by our very own Gordon Clegg. It’s a great day out, and a great chance to show off your artistic skills! Information here.
Our new window display this month is by artist Les Heywood, his pastel works are shown here with our lead volunteer Hilary Cope.
There is also lots more to see inside the gallery, like these beautiful water-colour paintings by Sandra Crake, shown below:
