Anniversary!

Hello art lovers! We will soon be looking forward to the 20th Anniversary of The People’s Gallery! To celebrate this event, we will be hosting a special afternoon at the gallery on Friday 21st June from 12pm, where Manchester’s Mayor Andy Burnham will be here to help us celebrate, along with other guests. There will be a special window display from our favorite local artists, (list to follow) and this will also follow on for a month, so no excuses not to come along! Please spread the word –there will be refreshments too – so you can have a cheeky glass of wine whilst viewing some beautiful artworks! More to come…

Lucky Dip – Find the Golden Ticket!

We have an exciting opportunity coming soon, with the chance to purchase an original piece of artwork from each of our members for only £1! The soon to be named ‘art-vending machine’ will dispense original art uniquely created by a selection of our members for only £1. One of the artworks will contain a golden ticket –  this will give the lucky winner a chance to choose any framed giclee print by our resident artist Gordon Clegg.

100% of funds from the machine go towards keeping The People’s Gallery open, without these donations, we would not be able to survive. We are also planning to donate funds from the lucky dip machine periodically to popular local charities – we will notify everyone when we are doing this in advance. Everyone’s a winner – Watch this space!

Ryetop Saddleworth

Hello everyone, we have some beautiful pencil drawings just come in by the well known & collected Saddleworth artist Russell Howarth.

Russell was born in 1927 in Oldham where he still lives. He left school in 1941 and from there he left to work in engineering up until 1981, which he then taught part time until 1992.

Eventhough Russell had no formal art education,  he joined Saddleworth Group of Artists in 1951. Russell mainly paints and draws Saddleworth Landscapes, with many of his paintings in private collections in the UK and abroad.

If anyone is interested in purchasing these wonderful original drawings, please email, call or pop in to the gallery. Pencil, 6 x 5 inches, £120 each.
